At our informal Networking Salon on 23 January 2026, we welcome the Japanese and German participants and alumni of the Junior Experts Exchange Program (JEX) as well as scientific experts and stakeholders in the field of German-Japanese relations. It offers an opportunity to foster the JEX Alumni network and engage in fruitful exchange to deepen the academic and economic ties between Germany and Japan.

The topic of this year’s JEX Program is “Battery Research for Carbon Neutrality”.

During a workshop on 24 January, the Japanese and German JEX participants from 2025 will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their work and to reflect on their experiences with the JEX Program in brief presentations. In a subsequent group discussion, participants exchange their impressions of similarities and differences between the German and Japanese research environments – both in general and specifically in the field of battery research – and jointly develop ideas and concepts on how to improve national and bilateral research conditions.
