Our food system is at stake: Climate change comes with threatening challenges such as expanding natural disasters, biodiversity is endangered, food globalization is progressing, and human world population by now exceeds eight billion people. While environment is further put at risk, vulnerabilities of global food supply increase. How can our societies and local food cultures contribute to a food system which is sustainable in terms of environmental protection and at the same time resilient in terms of food production and nutrition?

This Japanese-German symposium welcomes experts both from academia and with hands-on experience to share their insights with the audience and invites for a lively exchange between the two nations on global food issues with local perspectives.

Conference Languages are Japanese and German with simultanous interpretation.
