Germany and Japan are facing similar social and political challenges by an increasing digitalization and development of artificial intelligence in the judiciary, administration, economy and science. The symposium will tackle the question, if the new opportunities arising from the breathtaking developments in the field of artificial intelligence engender risks for the rule of law or if the chances prevail. Furthermore, the implications for the professions of judges, lawyers and scholars will be discussed. The symposium will offer a framework for a legal comparison amongst outstanding experts and the discussion of common sustainable solutions.
