A New Chapter in Berlin: Celebrating Kazuki Yamada at the JDZB! (September 30, 2026)
21st October 2026
A new musical chapter begins for Kazuki Yamada and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO)!
On September 30, the Japanese-German Center Berlin (JDZB) had the pleasure of hosting a special celebration marking Maestro Yamada’s appointment as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the DSO, just days before his inaugural concert at the Philharmonie Berlin on October 4.
Music set the tone for the evening, with a wonderful performance by a string quartet of DSO musicians. Their musical interludes beautifully complemented the congratulatory speeches, including remarks by H.E. Mitsuko Shino, Ambassador of Japan to Germany.
Sharing his vision and aspirations for the years ahead, Maestro Yamada spoke with infectious enthusiasm. During a lively Q&A session, his warmth and humor delighted the audience, bringing laughter and a personal touch to the celebration.
The evening concluded with a reception, offering guests the opportunity to connect and continue the conversations in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Berlin and the DSO for co-organizing this special event with the JDZB, as well as to the Embassy of Japan, the German-Japanese Society Berlin, and the Japanese International School Berlin for their generous support. We also thank everyone who joined us in celebrating this memorable occasion!
We wish Maestro Yamada and the DSO every success as they embark on this exciting new chapter of their musical journey together, and look forward to inspiring concerts and unforgettable musical experiences!
