Symposium: Tōkyō and Berlin – Universal Design in Urban Development

Date

2019-11-11

Venue

JDZB

This symposium builds on the cooperation conference with the Japan Foundation on “Inclusive Cities - Tōkyō and Berlin” in September 2016. This time the reference points are the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020 in Tōkyō. Following the principles of “Universal Design”, the Tōkyō Metropolitan Government wants to make Tōkyō a safe and comfortable city for all citizens of the world and age groups. Berlin has implemented many disabled and senior citizen-friendly measures, which have been internationally recognized.

The symposium shall take stock of all developments in both cities and then discuss in detail the future tasks to accelerate inclusive urban developments for the benefit of all population groups. Participants will be invited from various areas to ensure different perspectives (services, technical means, information technologies etc.) are represented.
